Jack C Hays UIL Hawkoween Tournament

2022 — Buda, TX/US
Jack C. Hays Speech and Debate students cordially invite you and your team to the Jack C. Hays Hawkoween Classic on Saturday, October 29th.  We are intentionally scheduling the tournament in the afternoon and evening so schools can attend the UIL Student Activity Conference at UT, then come practice what they have learned.  The tournament will be run entirely in person at Jack C. Hays High School in Buda, Texas.  Buda is located just west of I-35, in between Austin and San Marcos.  We are about twenty minutes south of Austin and 45 minutes north of San Antonio; reasonably priced hotels are available nearby for out-of-town guests.

Coaches and academic coordinators should enter contestants in the Google Form AT THIS LINK.

Due to a lack of interest in academic contests, we will be limiting the contest to speech and debate events.

We will be offering the following debate and speaking events: LD Debate, CX Debate, Student Congress, Persuasive Extemp, Informative Extemp, Prose and Poetry (category is reader's choice). Because of time constraints, students may only enter one event.  UIL rules and time limits will be followed in all events.  We will offer three full rounds of competition for CX Debate, LD Debate and individual speech and debate events, but no out-rounds.  Student Congress will have a full three-hour session.
